This weekend, NASA will be bringing its new Vision for Space Exploration Experience as part of the exhibit’s Maine tour. The Experience uses holographic and 3D images to take visitors on a simulated journey to the moon, Mars and beyond.

The tour will also feature the exhibit’s Experience Dome, a 136-square-foot, hexagon-shaped theater that will be located on Winslow Street, near the USM parking garage. In it, patrons will view a dynamic timeline of space exploration, from the first moon landings to far-future space expeditions, on surround-vision screens, creating the illusion of first-hand experience.

The exhibit showcases the technology, science, math, and engineering that Maine’s citizenry will need to prepare for the 21st century.

The exhibit is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, Sept. 22 to 24. For more information, please call the USM Planetarium at 780-4249.
