SCARBOROUGH- The Scarborough SummerFest 5K and 1-mile races will be held Friday, Aug 17, at the Scarborough High School athletic complex.
This will be the 11th year the race has been held. A 1-mile race (ages 13 and under) will be held at 6 p.m., with the 5K race going off at 6:30 p.m. The races are sponsored by the Scarborough Track& Cross Country Boosters.
Registration fees are $10 for the 1-mile race and $15 for the 5K race. Race-day registration is $20. Registration the day of the race will begin at 4 p.m. at the tent near the tennis courts.
In the kids race, everyone that finishes will receive a medal, and the first boy and girl will receive a plaque. In the 5K race, the top overall male and female will be awarded a plaque. All runners finishing the race will have their names put into a drawing for many other awards. The race is sanction by Maine USATF and race results will be posted on the meusatf.org website.
The start of the 5K race is in front of the Scarborough Public Library and continues on around the Wentworth school, onto Gorham Road to Sawyer Road, to the sidewalk on Route 1, and then through the high school lot to the Gorham Road sidewalk and then to the finish line near the tennis courts.
