David Coffin carries a box of cabbage into First Parish Congregational Church in Pownal last Thursday morning. Church members made the cabbage into cole slaw for their monthly Saturday night bean supper. The bean suppers are held there every third Saturday, with sittings at 5 and 6 p.m. A man motors his boat past sailboats docked at the South Freeport pier last week. Midsummer flowers make for a beautiful setting between the Freeport Historical Society and the Banana Republic store. New Greater Freeport Chamber of Commerce member Dean Gilbert, who will be bringing a branch of Mortgage Network Inc. to Freeport next month, acknowledges a round of applause after he won the award for making the best tie out of blanket remnants at Maine Woolens. Chamber members were gathered for Business After Hours on July 15, and also were recognizing the first anniversary of Maine Woolens’ arrival in town. The chamber thanks its Chamber Cornerstone members, the Denney Block, L.L. Bean, the town of Freeport and Parkview Adventist Medical Center, for their help putting on the event.
