Free disposal week set

The Yarmouth Transfer Station and Recycling Center will host a free disposal week for residents,

Monday, Oct. 20-Sunday, Oct. 26. The program is designed for residents to dispose of old appliances, tires, building materials from home projects and miscellaneous items. It is not intended for major demolition disposal. Computers, monitors, keyboards, mouse, CPUs, laptops, printers and scanners will be accepted.

The facility will be open Monday through Sunday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Car seat inspection

Residents can bring in their vehicles for a free car seat inspection, Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 3-6 p.m., at the North Road Fire Station, 178 North Road.

Pumpkin Run coming up

The eighth Pumpkin Run has been scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 25, at Yarmouth High School, 286 West Elm St., starting with a 5K Run & Walk at 9 a.m. and 1K kids fun run, ages 12 and under, at 10:15.

Register in advance at Yarmouth Community Services, 200 Main St. Race-day registration and packet pick-up begins at 7:30 a.m. at rear entrance of YHS. Fees are $20 for 5K, $10 for 1K, $45 for family and $10 for dogs. There will be prizes for top finishers and for best costumes. Proceeds benefit the Jayne C. Giese Youth Scholarship Fund.
