Taken around 1900, this photo of Main Street looks east from Brackett Street. The building on the left was the F. H. Whitney Cash Fish Market. The building to the left of it was the first Westbrook Trust Company office. The fourth building from the left was known as the Springer Block, with shops on the first floor and apartments on the second floor. Westbrook Hardware Company occupied the first floor from the 1960s until the building was demolished during Urban Renewal in the early 1970s. Bank of America presently occupies the site of the Fish Market and Westbrook Trust Company building in this photo.
