Track season is in full swing – in fact, the big meets are right around the corner, in early February. In the next few weeks, though, teams still have time to improve their performances and qualify additional athletes for States, everyone’s bread and butter.
York pulled out a pair of impressive wins at Friday’s mid-afternoon meet; their girls narrowly edged out a tough Falmouth squad, while their boys beat Falmouth by a wider margin. Traip, Cape Elizabeth, and Gray-New Gloucester rounded out the top five in both cases.
Lake Region – and superstar Kate Hall – were on hand, and Hall, as usual, cleaned up, winning multiple events.
“We’re very happy with the success of our girls team this year,” said Lake Region head coach Mark Snow. “It’s the most competitive indoor team I’ve had in my five seasons. Our record, 22-8-1, is due to a decent balance in the senior, junior and open events. The freshman and sophomore girls, the junior division, has been very dedicated to the team and have learned their events very quickly. This, along with veterans Kate Hall and Audrey Blais, has produced favorable results.
“Our next goal is to try to finish in the top five at the conference and State meets,” Snow said.
