Five Scarborough organizations have each received $1,000 grants from the town’s recently remodeled Hannaford supermarket.

Scarborough Public Library’s $1,000 will go to improve the DVD collection of children’s titles, including an expansion of the Emmy-award-winning Reading Rainbow series.

Scarborough Wellness will use the money toward the development of a community electronic newsletter to help promote health and wellness in the town.

Scarborough Primary PTO’s grant will be used to help fund Family Movie Night on Feb. 2, as well as other PTO activities and events.

Friends of the Scarborough 350th will use the money for improvements to the grounds at Memorial Park at Oak Hill, including the planting of trees.

Scarborough Community Services award will help establish a recreational intramural program for students in Grades 9-12.
