The Cumberland County Cribbage Club recognized its 2007 winners (and losers) Jan. 11. Bud Elston of Windham was honored as player of the year; Dawn Libby of Westbrook was first runner-up; Gordon Perry of Standish was second runner-up; and Standish resident Lucien Arsenault won the Flying Turkey Award for the most last-place finishes in the year.
All are welcome to join the club, which meets the second and last Friday of each month at the Windham/Gorham Rod & Gun Club on 8 Towpath Rd. in Gorham. Play starts at 6:30 p.m. Boards and cards are supplied by the club. For more information, call Elston at 892-9681.
Rebekahs Meet
The Rebekah Lodge #71 will meet Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall. The program will be a speaker, Tracy Nalbon, a financial administrator and will be open to the public. Refreshments will be prior to the meeting at 6:30 with all members bringing something.
Food Pantry Sale
The Windham Food Pantry will hold its second annual yard sale to benefit the pantry May 3 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Donations are being accepted at this time and may be dropped off at the Human Resources Building on the Gray Road weekdays from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Your support is appreciated. The Windham Health Council will not be holding their meeting previously scheduled for Feb. 6.
Raffle Ahoy
Austin Burtt of Windham is raffling off a “Pirates of the Caribbean at World’s End” DVD. The tickets are one for 50 cents or three for $1. Any money Burtt raises over $20 will go to the Windham Cancer Support Group, founded by his mother, Jeanne Curtin. Heart Month Speaker
February is “American Heart Month” and on Feb. 11 from 6:30 – 8 p.m., there will be a speaker at the library. Robyn Shaw will speak from the heart about the heart. She runs the Mended Hearts Support group in Scarborough and is very passionate and knowledgeable about heart health. There will be heart-healthy snacks donated by Hannaford’s. Play Ball
It is time to register for the 2008 Windham Little League Baseball and Softball seasons. Windham residents can register their children ages 5-12 online, 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.windhamlittleleague.com.
Walk-in registrations will be accepted on Saturday, Feb. 23, from noon – 2 p.m. in the Windham High School lobby and on Saturday, March 8, from 9 – 11 a.m. in Windham Middle School lobby.
The 2008 registration fees are $60 per player for online registration and $65 per player if they are registered via mail or in person. Registrations received for any league (tee ball-coach pitch, minor baseball, minor softball, 9-10 AAA baseball, 11-12 Little League baseball or 9-12 Little League softball after March 17 will be assessed a $25 late fee.
