A Falmouth man is at Maine Medical Center for evaluation following an incident involving a suicide threat that took place at his ex-wife’s home Monday on South Freeport Road, police said Tuesday morning.

Bryan Kennedy, 40, was taken into protective custody shortly before 7 p.m. Monday, according to Lt. Susan Nourse of the Freeport Police Department. Kennedy came out of the residence voluntarily, Nourse said.

Kennedy’s father had reported at 10:30 a.m. Monday that his son, who lives at 28 Waterview Way in Falmouth, had threatened suicide with a firearm and that he may be in Freeport, Nourse said, but police checked on some addresses and did not locate him at that time.

At about 3 p.m., Nourse said, Kennedy arrived at the home of his ex-wife on South Freeport Road. Police responded to the residence and set up a perimeter, notifying neighbors of the situation and prohibiting motorists from being in the area.

Police officers from Yarmouth, Freeport, and Brunswick worked together to check the immediate area and contain the situation to the residence.
