Windham resident Elaine Pollock is holding the second of two public input meetings dicussing the creation of the Windham Commuter Network, an organization aimed at connecting Lakes Region commuters wishing to carpool. The meeting is in the conference room at the Windham Public Library on Monday, Sept. 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend.

“I’m currently just one person trying to get something going on the local level,” Pollock said. “Possibly there are others out there, but we have not connected yet.”

Hurricane Katrina and Internet-based commuter campaigns she heard on Maine Public Radio motivated her to start a local commuting group.

“I checked out the Web site gomaine.org and was impressed, but the public awareness piece seemed weak. Without Katrina, I might not have heard about gomaine.org. So, I decided to see what I could do to try to get the word out about it,” she said.

For more information, Pollock can be reached at 892-4087, or polloe@earthlink.net. Enter WINDHAM CARPOOL NETWORK in the subject line if emailing her.
