Historical society to meet Oct. 14
Members of the Durham Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6:30 p.m., at the Old Town Hall. In November the historical society will meet at the Eureka Center due to cooler weather. Society members thanked all who turned out to support the recent quilt show/bake sale to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of the Old Town Hall.

Masons bean supper
The Masonic Lodge at 663 Royalsborough Road will host a bean supper on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 4:30-6 p.m. On the menu are baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies.
Prices are $7.50 for adults, $3 for children 5-12 and free for children under 5. Proceeds will benefit the Giving Tree (for children who may not have a Christmas). This is the final supper of the season.

Flooring bids sought
The Durham Eureka Center is currently seeking bids to replace the flooring at the Eureka Center. Those interested can contact Nancy Decker at 751-1323 for more information.
Chapel hosting
Griefshare program
Griefshare, a 13-week support group for those who have lost a loved one, facilitated by Pastor Ron Parker, runs Mondays, from 6:30-8 p.m., through Dec. 29, at the Shiloh Chapel Fellowship Hall. Christmas fair tables available
The North Pownal United Methodist Church is hosting a Christmas Fair on Dec. 5 and 6 at the church, and there are a limited amount of rental tables available. The rental fee is $25 per table. Crafters for PTA fair
The Durham Community School PTA is looking for local crafters to participate in the fourth annual PTA craft fair.
The Durham Community School PTA Craft Fair will be held Nov. 15th from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m., in the Durham Community School gym. Tables are $25. For more information, email durhammepta@gmail.com.
Gun raffle tickets now on sale
Tickets are now available for the Durham Fire & Rescue’s eighth annual gun raffle, “30 Days-30 Guns in November.” Drawings will be held daily starting Nov. 1 at the Durham Fire Station at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend. The prizes are guns donated by Johnson’s Sporting Goods, 206 Bath Road, Brunswick.
Tickets are $20, and will be limited to 3,000 tickets. Odds of winning are 1 in 100.
Tickets can be purchased from any member of the Durham Fire & Rescue Department. They can also be obtained by calling 353-2473 or stopping by the station at 615 Hallowell Road. Tickets also can be purchased at the Durham Get & Go at 697 Royalsborough Road.

Pay taxes online
The town of Durham, through a partnership with Androscoggin Bank, now offers taxpayers the opportunity to pay their property taxes online from home, work, or any other convenient location, using e-checks, credit or debit cards.
E-checks/ACH (automated clearing house)/checking account – Residents will need to provide their account number and the bank’s routing number to pay by this method. A check image is available during the payment process to assist in locating this information. There will be a $1 processing fee assessed.
Credit/debit cards: The town accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards. There will be a 2.95 percent processing fee assessed per transaction with a minimum charge of $1.95 for credit cards. All Visa debit card transactions are $3.95. A card image is available during the payment process to assist in locating card information. To use this service go to the Durham website and click on Pay Taxes (at top of page in quick links) or under Online Services click Pay Real Estate Taxes. The resident’s account number from the tax bill will be needed.
