Free clothing – for all ages
The newly renovated Windham Clothes Closet is open Fridays from 10 a.m. until noon for Windham residents and residents of neighboring towns. It is located in the lower level of the Human Resources building, on Route 202, across from Friends Church. The new entrance is around the building and on the lower level at the back door. Donations are being accepted and now may be left at the back of the building. All items in the Clothes Closet are free. Seniors who come to the food pantry on Thursday morning may also access the food pantry at that time to avoid multiple trips.
Donations Needed for Yard Sale
Madeline Roberts has started planning for the 4th Annual Yard Sale on May 8 to benefit the Food Pantry. Did you get a Christmas gift you did not necessarily want? Please don’t throw away the singing fish, dancing plant, or chia pet you may have received — bring it to the clothes closet and food pantry for their yard sale! Also they need small appliances, dish sets, knick knacks, jewelry, lamps, sports equipment, small furniture or just anything a family can pick up at little cost. This will help raise money for the pantry. The sale in 2009 made $1700 which was designated for Christmas. Thanks to that support, 326 children benefited. It appears 2010 will have more demand for services. Yard sale donations will be accepted now through April 30th for the May 8 sale.
Used eyeglasses
The Windham Lions wish to remind the community of the ongoing used eyeglasses project. Old glasses that are no longer needed can be refinished and Lions International will distribute them throughout the world to needy recipients. Please take a moment and drop them into the Lions eyeglass boxes, located at Windham Town Hall, Windham Public Library, the offices of Dr. Colin Robinson and Dr. Roxanne Metayer, Shaw’s and Walmart.
