Jean McKay and Nat Lombard cheer on the Lake Region girls basketball team Saturday against Yarmouth. The Lakers won that game and may go all the way to the state final in Bangor this year. If they do, 69-year-old McKay of Naples and Lombard, an 80-year-old Casco native, plan to be there to root the girls on. “We like basketball,” said McKay. “We come for the fun of it.” Lombard said that she has been watching basketball games for 75 years. She even played on the team at Casco High School, before the town joined the Lake Region school district. Lombard’s assessment of this year’s Lakers squad? “They’re very, very good.”
