Town Clerk John Myers has announced that nomination papers are available from his office for several elected municipal positions.

They are two selectmen seats for three-year terms; one director of Maine School Administrative District 6 for three years; three Planning Board members for three years; one Planning Board member for one year; three Budget Committee members for three years; and one Budget Committee member for one year.

All nomination papers must be filed in the town clerk’s office by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29. The town’s secret ballot election will be on Tuesday, June 11.

Cheverus students earn Latin awards

Cheverus High School in Portland recently announced that Eva Niedermeyer of Buxton and Phillip Hawley of Hollis Center earned honors in the 2013 national Latin exam.

Niedermeyer, magna cum laude, is a senior and Hawley, cum laude, is a freshman. Both received awards on the Latin II exam sponsored by the American Classical league and the National Junior Classical League.
