SOUTH PORTLAND – Andrew Reddy of South Portland was recently nominated by the Green Party to run for House District 33 in the Maine Legislature. The other candidates in the race are former South Portland Mayor Rosemarie De Angelis, Democrat, and Kevin Battle, Republican.
In announcing his candidacy, Reddy said he would provide “a viable third-party option in this year’s election,” which will take place on Nov. 4. “I’m an alternative to the status quo. In Augusta I will put the people’s needs above special interest groups,” he added.
Reddy is a social studies teacher at the high school level and his platform includes a focus on renewable energy, along with the legalization of recreational marijuana.
