Thursday, Jan. 15: Start something new in 2015 and learn to knit socks. Join Georgette Ouellette at Raymond Village Library on Thursdays, for an eight-week class beginning Jan. 15 from 5-7 p.m. Bring your own yarn or select some from our knitting stash. Friday, Jan. 16: The Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center at Fryeburg Academy presents “Bradley Backstage” for the first time. The Bradley Jazz Collective, comprised of highly esteemed local musicians Craig Bryan (drums), Al Hospers (bass), Kelly Muse (piano), Mimi Rohlfing (voice) and Mike Sakash (saxophone), will be performing a wide variety of jazz starting at 7:30 p.m. Bradley Backstage puts the performers and the audience on the same level, creating an unforgettably unique and personal concert experience. Saturday, Jan. 17: An American Red Cross blood drive in honor of Toby Pennels takes place 8 a.m.-2 p.m. at Windham Middle School, 408 Gray Road in Windham. Pennels was a longtime Windham resident who died in September after a motorcycle accident that required blood transfusions.

Tuesday, Jan. 27: The Finance Authority of Maine is holding a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) In-Personal Help Session from 5:30-8 p.m. at Lake Region Vocational Center, 1879 Roosevelt Trail, Naples. If your child is planning to attend college, trade or technical school in the fall, January is the time for Maine families to get serious about college financial aid applications because the sooner they file the (FAFSA) the more money they may be eligible for.
