Moonlight snowshoe tours are offered by the Portland Water District the first Friday nights in February and March on scenic trails in the Lakes Region. The hikes will take place even if there is no snow.

On Friday, Feb. 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. a snowshoe walk will take place at the Sebago Lake Ecology Center Nature Trail in Standish. The Center is located at the end of Route 237 in Standish.

On Friday, March 2, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the water district hosts another snowshoe tour at the Otter Ponds, Standish. Enjoy a leisurely snowshoe trek by moonlight around the Otter Ponds.

While hiking the trails, hikers will learn about nocturnal animals and the natural history of the area. Hot chocolate and snacks will be provided. All ages are welcome.
