Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department officers peacefully ended a standoff with an armed Gray woman early in the afternoon August 1.
Deputies responding to a domestic dispute call at 105 Depot Road just before 2 p.m. found a distraught female had barricaded herself in the home and was armed with a 9 mm pistol.
“The female refused to come out stating that she would kill herself or anyone else that came near her,” said Capt. Jeff Davis.
While deputies on site negotiated with the woman, the Emergency Services Tactical Unit was dispatched to the house. After an hour, the woman agreed to leave the residence and was taken into custody without incident, Davis said.
No charges will be filed in the incident, Davis said.
“She was experiencing mental health issues. There were no crimes besides that. We were just there to keep the peace,” he said.
