Fuel for thought

At the Nov. 12 Standish Town Council meeting, the U Can Help – Bottles for Fuel Committee was presented with a check in the amount of $3,500.

The check was presented by Bill Trask and Alberta Byrnes of Coldwell Banker’s Friends & Neighbors Realty. The donation was a result of a recent yard sale held by the real estate office to raise money for the fuel fund. Several local businesses also donated money to make the yard sale such a success.

The Standish Fuel Assistance Fund was established in August by the Town Council in anticipation of the high fuel costs this winter. They used $1,000 from the Town Council Contingency account to start the fuel assistance fund. If you would like to make a direct donation to the fuel fund please contact the town Finance Department at 642-3461.
