RAYMOND – Citing increasing levels of trash and hazardous debris such as diapers and hypodermic needles being left on the beach causing high bacteria levels in recent weeks, the town of Raymond has closed Raymond Beach until further notice.

The beach was closed at 5 a.m. Friday, July 23, pending a new management and/or permanent closure plan.

A “no trespassing – beach closed for health reasons” sign has been erected and the town has issued a statement warning anyone trying to use the beach will be prosecuted by the town of Raymond. Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies will patrol the area.
