GORHAM – Gorham’s Marissa Roberts had a good day at the SMAA ski championships at Shawnee Peak on March 1, winning one individual championship and finishing second in the meet’s other race.

The Kennebunk girls won the overall SMAA championship with 52 points, Scarborough was second with 92 points, the Rams finished third in the team standings with 127 points, Cheverus was fourth with 128 points and Marshwood was fifth with 133.

Roberts took home the individual title in the slalom, coming in first with a two-run combined time of 1:26.91. Roberts’ time was just under six seconds faster than the runner-up, Windham’s Marissa Lagassey, who posted a two-run time of 1:32.85.

Gorham’s Danielle Rivard was 14th in the slalom with a time of 2:06.24, the Rams’ Sarah Moir was 18th in 2:09.72 and Michelle Ramsey was 24th in 2:23.66.

Roberts made a bid for a title sweep in the giant slalom portion of the meet, but Kennebunk’s Tobey Ratoff edged her out, 58.13-1:00.07.

Moir posted a 19th place finish for the Rams in the giant slalom with a time of 1:14.63, Ramsey was 22nd in 1:18.71 and Rivard was 27th in 1:38.04.

On the boys side, Marshwood captured the team title with 53 points, Windham was second with 77, Scarborough was third with 115, Cheverus finished fourth with 141 points, Kennebunk was fifth with 217 and the Rams were sixth with 291.

Individually, the top finisher for the Rams in the boys slalom race was Tom Moutinho, who was 22nd in 1:49.11. Portland’s Carter Williams won the individual title in 1:22.43. The Rams also got top finishes from: Ian Barber, who was 29th overall in 2:00.93; Jarred Robbins, who was 30th in 2:01.69; Kellen Adolf, who was 47th in 2:31.54; Kevin Lubelczyk, who finished 48th in 2:38.93 and Troy Lawrence, who was 2:41.23.

Moutinho was also the top finisher for the Rams in the giant slalom, posting a 17th place finish with a two-run combined time of 1:03.82. Williams also won the giant slalom with a time of 57.22.

The Rams’ other finishers were: Robbins, who was 35th in 1:12.89; Barber, who finished 45th in 1:17.35; Lubelczyk, who was 46th in 1:18.86, Adolf, who finished 53rd in 1:31.96 and Lawrence, who was 54th with a time of 1:44.08.
