Third Class Petty Officer Dan Vaughan of Tulsa, Okla., and Arianne Smart, formerly of Naples, were married Sunday, March 8, on the ice near Thompson Point on Sebago Lake. The ceremony took place on a snow “wedding cake” constructed by Smart’s father, James Smart of Naples, who organized the wedding, held on a spot frequented by the Smart family. Serving as best man was Brian Wright of Albany, N.Y. Maids of Honor were Ashlea Allen of Naples and Ciara Smart of Casco, the bride’s sister. Dan and Arianne Vaughan plan to live in an apartment in Yarmouth until he is sent to serve overseas, probably some time in May. Arianne is a 2006 graduate of Lake Region High School, and is now in her third year at University of Southern Maine.
