State and Windham police continue to investigate the circumstances of a shooting inside a Windham home Thursday morning that left a woman dead after being shot by her husband. The incident took place in the Brookhaven subdivision in North Windham.

The victim is 34-year-old Alicia Gaston, according to Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland. Her husband, Noah Gaston, 33, has cooperated with police and has been interviewed. The couple’s three children – ages 9, 8 and 2 – were in the house at the time of the shooting, which took place around 6:15 a.m.

A team of investigators gathered evidence from the house during the day Thursday, and the state Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy.
