This landscaped scene is at Fort Hill Park on Fort Hill Road (Route 114) with a view of the White Mountains. The park is open during daylight hours. Because of its height, the hill was selected as a site for a fort built in 1744 for protection from Indians. According to “McLellan’s History of Gorham,” settlers in Gorham lived in the fort for seven years.
