Several local high school basketball players participated in the 8th annual MBR.ORG Preseason Interclass All-Star Weekend at St. Jospeh’s College in Standish this past weekend.

The festivities, which included over 200 of the top players from all over Maine, featured five girls games on Saturday and six boys games on Sunday. It was a final tune-up for many players before the start of the high school season, as practice began on Monday for Maine high school basketball teams. The regular season gets underway the first week in December.

In the Class B boys game, Lake Region senior Phil Leighton scored eight points and Gray-New Gloucester junior Evan Kenney added six to help the West to an 82-70 win over the East.

In the Class B girls game, junior Abby Hancock represented Lake Region on the West roster. The West prevailed in the game 45-35.

In the freshman girls game, Windham’s Meghan Gribbin scored seven points for the West, which lost a close one, 33-32.

In the freshman boys game, Windham’s Nolan Allen scored 12 points to help the West to a 65-58 victory.
