All community members are invited to join Cumberland County YMCA staff and volunteers to learn about the current status of bringing a YMCA to Scarborough. In addition to a progress update, Y representatives will speak about volunteer opportunities in a variety of areas and welcome all potential volunteers to attend.
The YMCA will serve Scarborough and the surrounding communities including the Lakes Region, and all residents of these communities are invited to join us. The community meeting will be held on Monday, May 2nd, at 7 p.m. in the Scarborough High School Cafeteria. For more information on this meeting, please call Gary O’Donnell of the Scarborough organizing committee at 885-5466, or Dave Thompson of the Cumberland County YMCA at 874-1111.
Through the work of volunteers in the Scarborough Community, the Scarborough Family YMCA will be developed as a branch of the Cumberland County YMCA, joining four current branches: the 150 year old Greater Portland branch, the Casco Bay Regional Branch, the YMCA at Pineland, and the Otter Pond Camp branch in Standish. Each of these branches is committed to achieving the mission of building strong communities, families and individuals through programs that promote a healthy spirit, mind and body for everyone, regardless of ability to pay.
