WINDHAM – Windham voters re-elected Tommy Gleason to the Town Council on Tuesday. Gleason will rejoin the council along with David Nadeau, who ran uncontested.
Gleason, a resident of Cook Road who was elected to the council in 2011, beat David Lydon, 3,960-2,222, in the race for a three-year, at-large seat.
Gleason, who was elected as chairman last November, said one of his top priorities is to finish the town’s new comprehensive plan as soon as possible. Gleason also said he wanted to see increased business expansion in North Windham, and simultaneous efforts to maintain the rural character of other parts of Windham.
“We did a lot in the last two, three years and I want to continue,” Gleason said. “There’s a lot to do, you know?”
Nadeau, who ran unopposed for the three-year East District seat, received 5,774 votes.
Nadeau also said he was looking forward to pushing through a new comprehensive plan. He said he hoped to focus on the quality of town services – and not just the cost.
“I’d like to continue on making the budget more transparent and having the discussion on the service that we’re providing and work the budget from the top down,” Nadeau said.
All three Regional School Unit 14 board members up for re-election ran unopposed. Kate Brix received 4,084 votes, Dawn Dillon received 3,399 votes, and Pete Heanssler received 2,991 votes.
