WESTBROOK – The Westbrook High School baseball team fell short of its goal of a state championship with a loss to Cheverus in the Western regional final last week. And while that loss stings, the Blazes can take some solace in knowing that they had a very successful season and that is reflected in the large number of players named to postseason all-star teams.
Scott Heath, who was unable to pitch in the playoffs due to an elbow injury, was named the team’s Most Valuable Player at the team’s banquet this week. Heath, who was also named the Gatorade Maine baseball player of the year, also was honored by the Southwestern Maine Activities Association with selections to the postseason all-star teams at pitcher and outfield. Heath also won the Hadlock Award, which is given to the best pitcher in the league.
But Heath wasn’t the only Westbrook athlete to win a postseason award, below is a complete list of all of the Blazes’ postseason honors.
