School bus stops unchanged by bridge fix
The bridge over the Indian Camp Brook on Longfellow Road in Gorham is closed for repairs, but won’t impact regular route stops for school buses that will serve the road on each side of the bridge.
“We’ll have to go in from both ends,” Gorham Transportation Director Norm Justice said on Tuesday.
Justice said Gorham school bus routes are virtually the same as last year. Justice expects this year’s school bus schedule to be posted soon on the Gorham School Department website, www.gorhamschools.org.
Longfellow Road has been closed to through traffic since Aug. 12 as Gorham Public Works Department personnel work on the bridge.
“We anticipate that it will be reopened within the next four weeks, weather depending,” Gorham Public Works Director Bob Burns said on Monday. “The school department is aware of the closure and will be taking the steps necessary to maintain the bus routes.”
The brook is a tributary of Stroudwater River.
