SALEM, N.H. — Authorities in New Hampshire say a Salem man killed his wife and mother before killing himself.

The New Hampshire attorney general’s office on Wednesday said 50-year-old Jeffrey Kaznecki shot his 51-year-old wife, Barbara, and his 85-year-old mother, Shirley Leary, on Tuesday before turning the gun on himself. All three died of gunshot wounds to the head.

Police were called to the two-story colonial home shortly after noon after a passer-by noticed Kaznecki’s body in the driveway.

Police later found the two women’s bodies inside the home, as well as the family dog, which had also been fatally shot.

Nearby residents say they’re shocked and saddened by what happened in their quiet neighborhood on the Massachusetts border.
