What is your position with the city and how long have you been on the job?
I am the vehicle maintenance manager, I started with the city of Westbrook in mid-June of this year.
What is your background?
I worked for St. Johnsbury Trucking Co. for 24 years until they went out of business in 1993. I started with them when I was 15, and worked with them all through high school in Gardiner. Then I moved to the local area after graduation and continued with St. Johnsbury until 1993. Then I worked for Kris Way Truck Leasing, Cummins Northeast Engine Co., and most recently as service manager at O’Connor Mack-Volvo, a heavy truck dealership.
What kind of duties does your job entail?
My duties are to maintain the city’s equipment for Public Services and help other departments maintain their equipment as needed. The better maintenance we perform is an unseen cost savings for the city of Westbrook.
What is the most likely way that your job causes you to interact with the general public?
My position leads me to many business people in Westbrook. We try very hard to use local vendors as much as possible for equipment and supplies to run our operation.
What do you like most about your job?
The most delightful part of my position is working with great people. Being part of a great team is very rewarding.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love to boat in Casco Bay, as well as biking and hiking in this great area.
