The Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber Of Commerce in partnership with many local organizations have announced that the Mushers Bowl Winter Carnival is on for this weekend.

The Feb. 10 and 11 Mushers Bowl, located at Five Fields Farm in Bridgton, will pit many of the best dogsled teams in New England against each other in a variety of levels and competions. Also planned are Skijoring races, a sleek event featuring cross country skiing while harnessed to a dog or dog team. Each event brings great athletes competing for both prize monies and points toward winning seasonal championships. Five Fields Farm has created a great course for the dogs and as well a wonderful area for spectators to see and be part of the action. Your $1 Mushers Bowl Winter Carnival Button is admittance into the event and buttons are available throughout Bridgton, at the Chamber Information Center or by contacting Landmark Human Resources, Inc.

The Mushers Bowl is a two-day competition and races will go throughout the day from 9 a.m. to at least 3:30 p.m. Food will be available on-site provided by the Sweden Fire Department. Your button also allows you to enjoy the Horse Drawn Wagon rides that will go throughout both days. For a change of pace, travel over to Highland Beach in Bridgton for the Saturday 9 a.m. Broomball Tournament and a 1 p.m. Ice Rescue Demonstration. All Mushers Bowl events are weather-dependent so call ahead for information at 647-3472 or go to www.mushersbowl.com.

Platinum sponsors include Five Fields Farm, Time Warner Cable and Howell Laboratories. Due to the nature of this being the initial Mushers Bowl on-site, there will be no skiing or snowshoeing available during the event. Future Mushers Bowl events will likely add these activities to the event.
