Investigators said Tuesday they will wait for the results of toxicology reports before decided which charges, if any, will be levied in the drowning of a Windham man at Highland Lake over the weekend.

The body of Patrick N. MacKerron Jr., 19, was recovered from the west side of the lake by members of the Maine Warden Service just after 8 p.m. Sunday.

MacKerron had been missing since Friday afternoon, when he and a friend both jumped out of a moving boat. The friend, Nathan Jackson, 20, of Casco, surfaced, but MacKerron did not.

Lt. Pat Dorian of the Maine Warden Service said he could not comment on the investigation, except to say that the results of toxicology reports would dictate what charges, if any, would be brought.

“It’s going to be some time,” Dorian said. “I don’t know exactly when we will have the results.”

MacKerron, Jackson and two other friends, Richard Tarvers, 28, of Westbrook, and 38-year-old Richard West of Windham, were riding across Highland Lake on a 20-foot Checkmate boat when MacKerron and Jackson jumped.

The Maine Warden Service and its dive team were joined by Maine State Police and the Maine Marine Patrol as they searched for MacKerron Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
