Fair trade event reminder

Trinity Lutheran church, 612 Main St., is hosting an open house from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29.

With the support of Karen Burnell of Windham, an avid fair trade supporter and owner of Karma Fair Trade, the church will provide the venue for a variety of items that are certified authentic fair trade products available for purchase.

This weekend St. Anthony’s Church, 268 Brown St., is hosting a three-day Christmas fair with crafts, food, and auction.

Fair dates and times are Friday, Oct. 28. 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 29, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

A spaghetti supper will be served 5-6:30 p.m. on Saturday, costing $8, $5. And the Knights of Columbus will serve breakfast 7-10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30; $5, $4.

WHS to do test balloon launch

Students at Westbrook High School will be test-launching a weather balloon Thursday as part of an educational program with NASA.

The science class will do a tethered launch on the football field to test out the balloon and its equipment. The actual launch of the balloon will take place this spring.
