Eastern Trail loop ride offered

The Eastern Trail Alliance will hold its first Trail Loop & Lunch Bunch Ride of 2015 on Sunday, June 14, at 9 a.m. Participants will ride their bikes along the trail from South Portland to Freeport.

The ride is free and open to the public, but participants should bring money for lunch and for an ice cream treat on the return trip.

Riders should meet at the Wainwright Recreation Complex, off Highland Avenue, in South Portland. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Museum to host flag ceremony

On Sunday, June 14, at 6 p.m. the Maine Military Museum, located on Peary Terrace in South Portland, will hold a Flag Day ceremony. The event is free and open to the public and the museum will also be open.

U.S. flags that are faded, torn or in disarray will be ceremonially burned, showing respect for all who have served the country.

Anyone looking to dispose of U.S. flags can drop them off at the museum or at Broadway Variety. Call Gerry at 317-1103 for more information.

Mad Horse fundraiser

During Mad Horse Theatre’s annual auction on Saturday, June 13, local actors will read scenes from next year’s season of plays.

The event, which runs 6-9 p.m., also includes live and silent auctions, tapas, a beer and wine cash bar and a “Who-dunnit” mystery to solve. Tickets are $25 per person.

‘Lend Me A Tenor’ opens

The musical comedy, “Lend Me a Tenor” opens at the Lyric Music Theater in South Portland on Friday, June 19, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $21.99 for adults and $17.99 for those 65 and up. Purchase your tickets online at www.lyricmusictheater.org or call the box office at 799-1421.

The musical runs through June 28 and show times are at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Described as “a madcap, screwball comedy,” the show has won three Tony Awards and four Drama Desk Awards.

“Lend Me a Tenor” provides a hilarious, behind-the-scenes look at just how many things can go wrong in one evening at the Cleveland Grand Opera Company. The show is rife with slamming doors, mistaken identities and mixed signals.

Sebago Technics announces hires

Sebago Technics, a South Portland-based engineering consulting firm, has announced that two new design professionals have joined the firm.

• Brandon Blake, of Cape Elizabeth, is a civil engineer. He has more than 10 years of civil/site design, survey, CAD and construction inspection experience, along with considerable experience in cell tower design and permitting.

• Caitlyn Abbott, of Portland, is also a civil engineer with five years of consulting engineering experience, particularly in construction inspection and peer review services to municipalities.
