Rotary Garden Club
On June 3, the Windham Rotary Garden Club held its 21st annual meeting. The group gathered with trowels in hand at 1 p.m. that day at the junction of routes 202 and 302 for the purpose of planting flowers in the islands of the rotary. This is a project that was started in 1987 as part of the Windham 250th Anniversary celebration. The flowers have been raised by June Hawkes of Windham Center Road. This year, June was assisted by Harry Carlin of River Road.
The planters this year included Helen Plummer, Ann Paquin, Barbara Maurais, Linda Wyman, Debbie Luce, Carol Otley, and Gary Plummer. Becky (Plummer) Deleware also assisted her mother and brother with the preparation of the flower beds. Even though the flowers are planted, there is still work to be done.
If you would like to help with weeding, deadheading, or mulching or would like to be included in the group of planters for next year, please call Gary Plummer at 892-6088.
We hope everyone will enjoy the beauty of the flowers as you drive through the rotary.
