FREEPORT — Edmund “Mike” Lumley III, 77, died March 14, at his home.

He was born Oct. 14, 1938, the son of Edmund Lumley Jr., and Margery D. Dauch Lumley in Long Island, New York. He attended Freeport, New York, High School, then Worchester Polytechnic Institute and Babson College in Massachusetts.

Lumley was employed in the securities industry for many years before he retired.

He had many varied interests. In addition to being active at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick as a lay leader, Lumley volunteered to teach fly tying to youth at L.L. Bean seminars. He was also active in Boy Scouts and, for many years, was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Mohegan Lake food pantry. Lumley was an avid fly fisherman and rebuilt several bamboo fly rods. He was also a lifelong Yankees fan who enjoyed gardening and was a former ham radio operator.

He is survived by two sons, Edmund Lumley IV, of Seaford, Virginia, and Andrew S. Lumley, of Montgomery, New York; a daughter, Jennifer E. Lumley True, of Great Mills, Maryland; and two grandsons, Collin A. Lumley and Nicholas True.

A memorial service was held March 16 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick.
