SCARBOROUGH — Democrat Marjorie DeSanctis on Tuesday announced her candidacy for the House District 28 seat held by three-term Rep. Heather Sirocki, R-Scarborough.

District 28 includes the western and southern sections of town.

DeSanctis has lived in Scarborough for nearly 20 years, she said Tuesday. She will run as a candidate under the Maine Clean Election Act.

DeSanctis’ career in health care finance management has included positions at Eastern Maine Medical Center and Acadia Hospital in Bangor. She has also served as a federal Medicare auditor for Maine Medical Center in Portland, has taught at the University of New England, and is a fellow and former president of the Maine chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

She also served on the Planning Board in Bangor, spent four years on the board of directors of Camp Ketcha in Scarborough, and is the secretary for the Scarborough Democrats.
