HARPSWELL — Marie Lovejoy Allen, 89, died Dec. 29 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
She was born in Harpswell on Dec. 15, 1947, the daughter of William and Amy (Merriman)
Bachelder.
She attended Harpswell schools and was a 1939 graduate of Brunswick High School.
On Aug. 3, 1941, she married Dwight L. Allen.
Allen was a devoted homemaker. As an active member of the West Harpswell Baptist Church, she served on committees, the missionary society and was an honorary deaconess.
She was predeceased by her husband on April 6, 2003.
Surviving are sons Kenneth Allen and his wife Judith of Brunswick, and Paul Allen and his wife Linda of Harpswell; brother Harold Bachelder of El Paso, Texas; grandchildren Anne Krabbe and her husband Magnus of Satelitte Beach, Fla., Lisa Card and her husband Rob of Lisbon Falls, Jennifer McPherson of Topsham, Brenda Maciejewski and her husband Brian of South Carolina, Robert Allen of Palm Bay, Fla., and Christopher Allen and his wife Darlene of St. John’s, Fla.; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 16 at the West Harpswell Baptist Church, 1492 Harpswell Neck Road.
Arrangements are by Stetson’s Funeral Home, Brunswick.
