BRUNSWICK — Ezra Chester Creswell, 80, died Feb. 28 at Mid Coast Hospital.
He was born in Quincy, Mass., March 9, 1928, the son of Alpheus C. and Marion D. (McEwen) Creswell.
In 1946, he graduated from Braintree High School where he excelled in sports. He was inducted into the Braintree High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2002.
From 1950-1953, he served in the U.S. Marines as an air traffic controller. After the service, he returned to Brown University and completed his bachelor’s degree.
He worked at the Quincy Shipyard in the industrial engineering department.
On Jan. 19, 1957, he married Joan Runge.
In 1973, they relocated to Maine where he continued his career in industrial engineering at Bath Iron Works until retiring in 1993.
After his retirement, he enjoyed doing Tai Chi at Riverview Foundation and volunteering as a track official at Bowdoin College.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Creswell and Walter Creswell.
He is survived by his wife Joan of Brunswick; children, Gary Creswell and his wife Ann of Manchester, N.H., Ronald Creswell and his wife Wendy of Vacaville, Calif., Richard Creswell and his wife Michele of Yarmouth, Cheryll St. Onge and her husband Paul of Standish, Laurel Kemp and her husband Bradley of Rotondo Beach, Calif; his sister, Ethel Crispin and her husband James of Brunswick; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. March 7 at Stetson’s Funeral Home, 12 Federal St. Brunswick.
