8:30 a.m., May 15 – Portland Arts and Technology High School, morning session
11:30 a.m., May 15 – Portland Arts and Technology High School, afternoon session
6 p.m. June 2 Merrill Auditorium – Portland Adult Education
10:30 a.m., June 3 – Cumberland County Civic Center – Deering High School
10:30 a.m., June 4 – Merrill Auditorium – Portland High School
6 p.m., June 4 – Merrill Auditorium – Casco Bay High School

wins chemists’ award
PORTLAND — Sheryl Dominic, a chemistry teacher at Deering High School, was the Maine winner of the 2009 Secondary School Chemistry Teacher Award presented by the New England Institute of Chemists.
Dominic has taught chemistry and biology at Deering High School for 33 years.
Nesvig wins
art contest
AUGUSTA — Suki Nesvig of Portland, a senior at Waynflete School, was selected as the First Congressional District’s winner of the 2009 Congressional Arts Competition for Maine.
One winner is chosen from each Congressional District for the national art competition held annually. The student artwork will hang in the U.S. Capitol building.
Alex Bucaro from Portland High School and Ike Voorhees from Waynflete School were named First District Runners-Up.
