PORTLAND — The Cheverus football team broke a Class A record with its 32nd consecutive victory on Saturday with a 21-0 win over Deering.

Cheverus improved to 8-0 on the season with the win, which broke the record set by South Portland from 1995-97.

Cheverus quarterback Liam Fitzpatrick threw three touchdown passes, including two to to Donald Goodrich, to overcome a strong defensive effort by Deering.
