LEWISTON – Bates College rushed for 305 yards and forced four turnovers as it beat Williams for the second straight year, rolling to a 33-6 win in a New England Small College Athletic Conference football game Saturday at Garcelon Field.
Patrick George carried the ball 22 times for 104 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Trevor Smith added 98 yards on 19 carries, and Teddy Downs had 68 yards and a touchdown on 14 rushes.
Smith threw two touchdown passes, both to Kevin Davis, and completed 12 of 14 attempts for 115 yards.
The Bobcats (2-1) led 33-0 before Williams (1-2) finally scored midway through the fourth quarter.
BOWDOIN 17, TUFTS 10: Zach Donnarumma rushed for 137 yards and two touchdowns, including a 5-yard run with 2:36 remaining to put the Polar Bears (1-2) on top of the Jumbos (0-3) at Brunswick.
Greg Pierce added 73 yards rushing and Thomas Romero threw for 131 for Bowdoin, which held Tufts to 197 total yards.
WESLEYAN 31, COLBY 28: Sebastian Aguirre booted a 29-yard field goal with 34 seconds left as the Cardinals (3-0) rallied past the Mules (0-3) at Waterville.
Colby freshman quarterback Justin Ciero passed for 283 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 102 yards and a fourth touchdown.
Ciero’s 5-yard run game Colby a 28-21 lead in the fourth quarter, but a fumbled snap by the Mules set up Wesleyan’s tying touchdown with 2:31 remaining.
WESTFIELD STATE 63, MAINE MARITIME 13: Michael Mercadante rushed 154 yards and three touchdowns, and Erik Washburn threw for 220 yards and three scores as the Owls (2-4) routed the Mariners (0-5) at Castine.
Billy Wetherbee and Michael Cummings each ran for a score for Maine Maritime.
GALLAUDET 44, HUSSON 14: Todd Bonheyo ran 21 times for 179 yards and four touchdowns and also threw for 124 yards and a score to lead the Bison (5-1) past the Eagles (1-5) at Bangor.
Kash Keezer threw two touchdown passes for Husson, which was held to 179 yards.
