The Old Orchard Beach Town Council meeting scheduled for Friday night to appoint an interim town manager has been canceled.

Town Clerk Kim McLaughlin said the decision to cancel was made last Friday because the council did not receive background information on candidates in time for the meeting. The meeting will be rescheduled once that information is received, she said.

The town has been without a manager since March 5, when a split council voted to terminate Mark Pearson’s contract. Pearson is on administrative leave until the termination takes effect April 3.

Assistant Town Manager V. Louise Reid is out on leave.
