I recently moved to Maine, and June 12 was my first time voting in a Maine primary. I was shocked to be subjected to this insane closed-primary voting system. I have voted in two previous states and never heard of this terrible idea before.
How can you tell me, an educated, informed, taxpaying registered voter, that I am not allowed to even look at a ballot without signing up for one of your two silly clubs? Only a handful of states use this pointless, oppressive system.
There is nothing gained by oppressing your voting citizens. It only creates lack of interest in the primary process. We have the right to vote for whoever we want, without wearing your special team colors.
