A Glenburn man has been sentenced to more than eight years in federal prison for unlawfully possessing firearms, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said Friday.

Jonathan Gardiner, 31, will serve 100 months in prison plus three years of probation, after pleading guilty in April 2017. He was sentenced on Thursday in federal court in Bangor by U.S. District Judge John A. Woodcock.

Gardiner was prohibited from possessing firearms because of previous Maine felony convictions for burglary, aggravated assault, theft and drug trafficking. He was in possession of a pistol and sawed-off shotgun at his residence in Glenburn when Penobscot County sheriff’s deputies arrived in November 2014 in response to reports of shots fired, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
