A recently published letter urged a “no” vote on Medicaid expansion because some of the recipients who would gain medical insurance coverage would be “able-bodied,” and, therefore, somehow less deserving than current Medicaid recipients.

The term “able-bodied” is simply an administrative description of someone who is not collecting medical disability payments. You can be quite sick and still be considered “able-bodied.” These people need coverage, too.

Please vote “yes” on Question 2 on the Maine ballot.
