PORTLAND — Shannon Wilkerson singled in two runs in the eighth inning to give the Portland Sea Dogs a 4-3 win over the New Britain Rock Cats Sunday afternoon before 4,160 at Hadlock Field.
Rafael Perez (1-1) got the win, pitching 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.

Portland starter Keith Couch pitched a fine game, going 7 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits.

Portland trailed 3-0 early. The Sea Dogs scored two in the fourth on Garin Cecchini’s RBI double and Tony Thomas’ one-run single.

In the eighth, Wilkerson lined a two-out single to center, scoring both Thomas and Derrik Gibson.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak by the Sea Dogs (45-41) against the Rock Cats (43-45). The two teams play again at noon Monday at Hadlock.
