The NBC television show “Dateline” will feature a segment Friday night exploring the complex investigation launched when an intruder broke into a house in Saco in 2014.

Gregory Owens was convicted of shooting his wife while she visited the home and then shooting the homeowner.

Owens was sentenced to life in prison in the strange case that spanned multiple states and involved a Special Forces training company and testimony by Owens’ former mistress, who described her growing skepticism about his fantastical stories.

Among those interviewed for the show were Scott Dolan, a former Portland Press Herald reporter who covered the case.

The program, titled “The Intruder,” airs at 10 p.m. Watch a preview here .
