Moosehead Togue Derby, all day Jan. 27-29 in Greenville
The Moosehead Lake region will again host a togue derby that draws 1,000 to 3,000 fishermen. There will be cash prizes for the three biggest togue. Those who aren’t fishing can enter drawings for door prizes, including trips to Las Vegas and Orlando, Florida. Derby tickets are on sale at NRECmoosehead.org.
Moosehead Sled Dog Race, 9 a.m. Feb. 4 in Greenville
The Wilderness Sled Dog Race will start at the Leisure Life Resort, with mushers and dog teams racing through 70 miles of forested mountain trails in the Moosehead region. Spectators can witness both the 70-mile race, which starts at 9 a.m., or the 30-mile race at 10 a.m. Both events are free for spectators.
